As you know, I’m on a mission to showcase Colombian flavors not only through my own recipes, but also by highlighting restaurants! For each visit, I will discuss the following categories when describing my experience: Ambience, Colombian Connection, Favorite Dish, and Tips.
We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at The Royal using their newly winterized outdoor patio. We loved our food, drinks, and service!
While they carry traditional American breakfast items like bagels and biscuits, we opted for the Colombian inspired dishes on the menu.
Their COVID prevention guidelines were also on point. We felt very comfortable and safe. The tables were super spaced apart, contactless ordering and paying, masks required except when eating or drinking, and clear steps listed at every table.
Ambience: We went on a cool morning during the pandemic so we opted for their outdoor socially distanced tables. The menus were contactless via QR code, there were heaters, signage promoting mask use, and the service was great! The outdoor dining was covered and felt super cozy with the plants and décor, but most importantly, it felt safe! Although we dined outside, the vibe inside is as a cross between a coffee shop, a wine bar, a cocktail bar, and a Parisian café. It’s a versatile space that is warm, inviting, cozy, and perfect for whatever occasion you have in mind.
Colombian Connection: The Royal is a family-owned restaurant with Colombian-American roots. You can see this with some of the Colombian inspired dishes that rotate through their menu and with the creative cocktails they feature.
Favorite Dish: Everything we ordered tasted fresh and made for an amazing early morning breakfast. However, the most memorable dish for me was the Calentado. It was hearty, packed with flavor, and was topped with the most perfect runny egg. Just thinking about makes me want to go back for another one. This is def a dish you could easily sleep on, but don’t!
