Sazón

Sazón (pronounced sah-sohn) is a blend of spices that is common is Latin cuisine. The exact ingredients and measurements vary by country and by family.

Sazón is my go-to spice and I combine 10 different spices for my version. It pairs well with tofu steaks, chickpeas, and red beans! However, if you eat meat it’s also great on fish, chicken, and steak.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of oregano
  • 1 teaspoon of dried cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon of achiote
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

Directions:

  • Combine all of the seasonings in a bowl.
  • Whisk to combine.
  • Then, place the seasoning in an empty seasoning jar.
  • Store with your seasonings and enjoy it to season your next dish!
  • Yields about 1/2 seasoning jar.
