Salsa Rosada (salsa row-sah-dah) is the most amazing and simple sauce you can make. It has a beautiful pink color that gives any dish an extra pop! The pink color comes from mixing mayonnaise and ketchup and the tanginess comes from the lime juice.
I was introduced to salsa rosada as a child when I would visit Colombia. The sauce is paired with everything and anything; think (veggie) hot dogs, sandwiches, (veggie) chicken tenders, (veggie) burgers, fries, tots–I even added them to my patacones.
This sauce traditionally uses mayo, and if you’re like me and love mayo, this is great! However, if you are looking for a vegan mayo, I recommend using Hellmann’s Vegan Mayo. It’s one of the few vegan mayos that still has the neutral tanginess of regular mayo.
This sauce is TANGY, LIGHT, UNIQUE, and so VERSATILE.
What You’ll Need:
- 4 tablespoons mayo (or Hellmann’s Vegan Mayo)
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Directions:
- Measure out all the ingredients and add them into a small bowl.
- Use a spoon to mix and combine well.
- Taste test and make seasoning adjustments if needed.
- Pair this sauce with a Colombian (veggie) Hot Dog, fries, nachos, patacones, fries, tots, chips, (veggie) burgers, yuca, or any other dish!
- Yields about ½ cup of sauce.
