This perfect Halloween appetizer combines the classic guava + cheese duo with a playful spooky twist. The bite-size spooky eyes come together fast, look adorable on a platter, and taste like a mini riff on Colombian bocadillo con queso.

Why you’ll love it
- 5 ingredients, no baking
- Sweet–salty combo from guava + mozzarella
- Scales easily for parties
- Kid- and crowd-friendly
What you’ll need
- Guava sauce (make this the day before for easy assembly)
- Edible candy eyeball
- Small round crackers (the smallest you can find, the better)
- 1.57 inch round cutter (or any cutter that matches the size of your cracker)
- 6 Mozzarella cheese slices
Yield: ~14 bites (depends on cutter size)
Directions
- Make the guava sauce (day before): In a small pot, melt guava paste with a few tablespoons of water over low heat, stirring until glossy and spoonable. Cool, then refrigerate.
- Cut the cheese: Use the round cutter to punch circles from the mozzarella slices.
- Lay the base: Arrange crackers on a platter.
- Add cheese: Place one cheese circle on each cracker.
- Top with guava: Spoon a small dollop of guava sauce onto each cheese circle; spread gently with the back of the spoon.
- Finish the “eye”: Press one candy eyeball in the center of each cracker.
- Serve & enjoy!
